Position Overview

Join a high-impact team shaping the future of underground mining performance at Gold Fields to deliver safe, reliable, cost effective and consistently stable operations.

Role Summary

As part of our Asset Optimisation team, the Principal Specialist Underground Mining will play a pivotal role in strategic decision-making, operational improvement, performance optimisation, and ensuring consistency across our underground operations. You’ll provide leadership and collaborative influence across Gold Fields, championing best practice underground mining to help sites achieve their business plans.

Responsibilities

You’ll drive underground mining excellence by offering technical and operational guidance, promoting safety and risk awareness, and supporting performance across the Group. A key part of your role will be mentoring and influencing operational leaders to embed improvements that consistently deliver on business objectives. You’ll benchmark KPIs and technologies, while identifying and managing operational risks and opportunities across regions to support stable and consistent operations.

Location & Work Requirements

This Perth-based role is offered on a permanent full-time basis, with travel to site and flexibility to work across time zones and outside standard hours is essential.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will bring extensive underground mining experience with a Mining Engineering degree. Your deep technical expertise spans underground mining operations, fleet performance and continuous improvement. You bring strong project and financial modelling skills, with the ability to manage complex tasks across regions and influence stakeholders at all levels. As a strategic and collaborative leader, you are known for your resilience, adaptability, and drive to deliver results.
