Job Summary:

The Pharmacist Supervisor oversees all patient activities for the Home Delivery programs supported by the pharmacy registrants, including Pharmacists and Regulated Technicians. The role supports the Sr. Manager, Pharmacy to achieve overall performance and success of the pharmacy in alignment with the vision and priorities of Biopharma & Provider Solutions. The incumbent leads and develops pharmacists and regulated technicians to build accountability, drive business results, and provide exceptional patient care; oversees daily operations of the pharmacy staff including priority setting, issue escalation, resolution, and follow-up to provide a seamless workflow. Provides metric-based updates to the Senior Manager at intervals to ensure proper performance monitoring, staff orientation, training, and monthly check-ins on performance. Acts as the designated point of contact for Patient Support Program escalations and performs duties of Pharmacist to dispense prescribed pharmaceuticals, provide consultative services to clients and health care providers, in accordance with all laws and responsibilities set by the Provincial Regulatory Body and McKesson Canada. The Pharmacist Supervisor role is a successor to the Senior Manager, Pharmacy, with knowledge of the team focused on supporting Home Delivery programs and serves as back-up for other Supervisor or Manager roles as required.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Leads, communicates, coordinates, and interacts with all McKesson staff to promote respect, integrity, operational efficiency, and patient and client‑focused service.
  • Manages direct reports, namely Pharmacists and Regulated Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Oversees recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of new employees.
  • Promotes ongoing team development through coaching and quarterly performance evaluations.
  • Oversees all processes related to the dispensing of medications for all home delivery programs at McKesson Specialty Pharmacy BC.
  • Acts as the designated escalation contact with Program POCs for various programs and addresses concerns.
  • Meets or exceeds metrics and deadlines set by program SLAs.
  • Manages external and internal service compliance, identifies risk and compliance opportunities, and assists in assessing and mitigating identified risks while being accountable to corporate risk and other compliance functions.
  • Conducts root cause and trend analysis and develops process improvements.
  • Collaborates with the team to implement creative solutions to daily workflow challenges and temporary labor shortages.
  • Develops and maintains a team with a strong focus on customer service and continuous quality improvements.
  • Maintains program SOPs, exceptions processes, workflows, scripting, training, and reports.
  • Promotes and ensures the highest quality of care is provided to patients and families.
  • Provides regular feedback to the Sr. Manager regarding quality, operational, technical, or process issues and recommends corrective actions or engages additional resources if needed.
  • Oversees employee scheduling and resource allocation based on forecasted demand to ensure effective and efficient service levels.
  • Supports the Sr. Manager in policy and practice development, responds per policy direction, and seeks assistance for unusual situations or staff non-compliance.
  • Conducts daily briefings on pharmacy operations with the Sr. Manager, addresses attendance, staff non-adherence, and resource allocation as required.
  • Keeps track of KPIs relevant to the team such as accounts receivable, call centre metrics, and billing errors.
  • Operates and promotes behaviours that uphold McKesson i2Care and iLead Principles.
  • Performs patient care-related activities such as processing, dispensing, counseling, checking prescriptions, renewing prescriptions, and submitting adverse events and product quality complaints when required.
  • Ability to perform tasks beyond the specific responsibilities of a Pharmacist Supervisor and adapt as necessary.
  • Overtime as required.

Key Requirements:

Knowledge:

  • Bachelor or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree.
  • A valid license in good standing with the applicable College of Pharmacists is required.
  • Possesses strong working knowledge of Kroll and its capabilities is an asset.

Experience:

  • 2+ years experience working as a Pharmacist in a Specialty Pharmacy is an asset.
  • 1+ years pharmacy supervisory/management experience is an asset, but not required.

Skills and Abilities:

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive compensation package as part of our Total Rewards. The pay range for this position is $85,400 - $142,300 and is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy.
