Our client in Toronto, ON preparing for an IPO and is seeking aPayroll Reconciliation Specialistto support their payroll-to-finance integration efforts. This is a6-month contract (with potential for extension).

  • Monday to Friday and 35-hour work week with 1-hour lunch
  • 6-month contract with potential for an extension.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement ongoing reconciliation processes between Workday (system of record), ADP (money movement/tax remittances), and the general ledger (GL)
  • Investigate and resolve payroll variances, working closely with Finance to identify timing, system, or process issues
  • Partner with Payroll Managers in Canada and the U.S. to align payroll activities with GL and financial reporting requirements
  • Support both Canadian and U.S. payroll operations, ensuring compliance with multi-state and multi-provincial payroll laws
  • Provide subject matter expertise on payroll accounting, reconciliation, and reporting during IPO preparation
  • Collaborate with external advisorsto strengthen internal processes

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of payroll experience with a strong background in both U.S. and Canadian payroll
  • Must have experience processing large payroll size 1000+
  • Proven experience with payroll-to-GL reconciliation and payroll accounting in large, complex organizations
  • Familiarity with Workday and ADP SmartCompliance (or similar payroll platforms)
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll tax structures and multi-jurisdictional complexities
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, reconciliation formulas)
  • PCP or equivalent payroll certification preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
