Position Summary

Academic Part-time Position

As a part-time Professor, you will develop and deliver curriculum using various engaging and innovative methods, playing a pivotal role in enhancing academic excellence through sound teaching practice.

The School of Creative Industries is seeking a qualified professional to join the Interior Decorating program to teach the following course(s) part-time in the winter semester from January 2026 – April 2026.

  • PHOT1330 Staging and Composition

Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. Conestoga offers classes Monday to Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., both in-person and online. Part-time Professors typically teach 1-2 courses. Courses are approximately 3-6 hours per week in the classroom for a 14-week term. This position will be working on-site at the Doon campus, located at 299 Doon Valley Dr, Kitchener, ON N2G 4M4.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure program and course curriculum are current, relevant, and reflective of best practices in the field
  • Design appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and evaluating student progress and achievement
  • Carry out regularly scheduled instruction according to the format prescribed for the course, including online, classroom, and computer-assisted lab lessons
  • Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systems
  • Evaluate student progress/achievement, assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of student work within the assigned course, and maintain records as required
  • Support students in the use of eConestoga, the learning management system (D2L), as well as maintain course materials within this system
  • Create and maintain a positive learning environment which supports the diversity of students’ cultures, educational backgrounds, and learning styles
  • Work in a collaborative, collegial manner both within the department and across the college
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Decorating or related field is required
  • Minimum seven years of direct experience within the interior decorating industry is required
  • Proven experience in interior and editorial photography, including staging vignettes, composing magazine-quality shots, and using Photoshop for post-production
  • Adult or post-secondary level teaching experience is an asset
  • Experience with curriculum development is an asset
  • Experience with computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g., D2L) is preferred
  • Demonstrated exceptional presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an academic team
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to learners and provide a positive learning environment to students working at different skill levels, including international students and students requiring accommodation, is an asset
  • Strong commitment to academic excellence, student success, and ability to support Conestoga’s continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Strong relationships with industry contacts and network connections are considered an asset
