A specialized technology company based in Waterloo, Ontario, is looking for a part-time Operations Technician to assist in facility build-out and equipment management. The successful candidate will manage equipment procurement, installation, and maintenance while ensuring safety compliance. Required qualifications include a technical degree and experience in facility management and project coordination. This role offers an opportunity to be part of an innovative team that works on exciting underwater exploration projects.
Voyis designs and manufactures high performance underwater optical sensors (lasers, cameras, lights) for underwater vehicles that expand capability and enhance understanding in underwater surveys and exploration. Our products have enabled our customers to survey more than 10,000km of ocean floor across all 7 continents, helping people better understand those remote, challenging environments. Our mission is to push the limits of what’s possible subsea and enable every underwater vehicle to see the depths like we see the surface.
All our products are proudly designed and built in Waterloo.
The role is part time (24 hours a week) on a 1-year contract at our headquarters in Waterloo, Ontario. Based on the nature of this role, this is a in-person role.
As an Operations Technician, you will assist in coordinating our new facility build-out. You will manage the day-today activities in outfitting of the space — sourcing all necessary equipment, tooling, and furniture, coordinating with contractors, installing new equipment, etc. Your hands‑on fabrication skills will be essential for fabricating tooling and creating custom fixtures. This position also includes responsibility for the ongoing maintenance and repair of equipment and ensuring our facilities comply with all Joint Health & Safety Committee standards.
Our team is made up of problem‑solvers, passionate about pushing the boundaries of what’s possible underwater. We get excited about building cool stuff and working on exciting projects like going to the Titanic, Endurance (and lots of other shipwrecks too!). We are a small and closely‑knit team. Each member of our team makes a significant impact not just on our business, but on our customers as well.
At Voyis we value diversity and we’re proud to be an equal opportunity workplace. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all. We thank everyone who applies and for their interest in working for Voyis, however, only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. No telephone or walk‑in inquiries please.
