Job summary

A leading retail logistics provider in Canada is seeking an Operations Manager to lead a team of warehouse supervisors. The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, ensuring service level agreements are met and KPIs are monitored. The position requires strong leadership and interpersonal skills, along with experience in a logistics environment. Salary range is $55,000–$80,000 annually based on experience.

Purpose

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading a team of warehouse supervisors in the day to day operations. The successful incumbent would be responsible for production planning, coaching and mentoring the team, developing and monitoring KPIs and ensuring service level agreements are met.

Responsibilities
  • Determines daily operational plan, sets priorities and assigns employees as required. Requests additional resources if required
  • Liaises with client to ensure ongoing satisfaction, responds to new requests and investigates and resolves issues
  • Aware of current ongoing customer requirements, changes to contracts or new client set up in order to meet customer expectations and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Reviews and monitors KPI’s, operational processes, and productivity reports on a daily, weekly, monthly basis and provides direction and support to Operations Supervisors to ensure teams meet goals
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Operations Supervisors and employees by providing fair and consistent feedback on performance goals and ensure they are cross trained to maximize their contribution to the company and provide backup support when needed
  • Responsible to conduct progressive discipline for all employees but not including termination, partnering with Human Resources and Directors
  • Implementation of current customer requests for special projects or value added services, including process mapping, facility lay out, staff training, etc
  • Ensures staffing levels are adequate to meet KPIs and reviews levels to ensure overstaffing does not occur
  • Responsible for the allocation and proper use of equipment and supplies such as RF guns, pump trucks, forklifts skids, labels, empty boxes, etc. Orders supplies as required
  • Responsible to ensure quality standards are met by visually auditing product, analyzing computer data and reviewing paperwork
  • Liaise with internal departments such as Customer Service, Transportation and Inventory Management to investigate and resolve operational and client issues
  • Responsible for creating a work environment that is inclusive of diversity, free of discrimination and free of conflict
  • Ensures that the workplace is safe and meets all legislative requirements. Responsible for housekeeping and ensuring only trained employees operate material handling equipment
  • Initiates Rewards and Recognition programs for associates to recognize performance
  • Performs administrative tasks as they relate to the operation; Participates in different projects as requested
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum High School diploma; College diploma preferred.
  • Must have experience in a 3rd party logistics environment
  • 3-5 years experience in a supervisory role
  • Knowledgeable and skilled using a warehouse management system (WMS), PkMS or WMi preferred
  • Demonstrated strong leadership with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be a resourceful self starter with exceptional labour planning skills
  • Team player skills with demonstrated abilities to interact well with all levels of associates
  • Proven ability to encourage and motivate others in a positive manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent organizational skills
  • Able to lift cartons or bins that weigh up to 50 lb; repetitively at times
  • Data entry and/or computer keyboard experience
  • Works well under pressure; High energy level

Salary Range: $55,000–$80,000 a year / The final agreed upon salary may vary based on factors such as job‑related knowledge, skills and experience.
