Job summary

A leading health care provider in Calgary is seeking a Health Care Aide to provide ongoing client care. Responsibilities include observing and reporting client status, delivering medications, and ensuring high standards of care. Candidates must have a High School Diploma, completion of an Alberta government recognized program, and must be physically capable of client mobility tasks. This position is temporary full-time with a pay rate of $20.77 - $26.02 per hour.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, plus graduation from an Alberta recognized HCA program.
  • Ability to manage frequent lifting and transferring of clients.
  • Active registration in the Alberta HCA Directory required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing client care as an unregulated member of the health care team.
  • Observe, monitor, and report on client status, ensuring changes are reported to RNs or LPNs.
  • Deliver prescribed medications accurately as per policy.

The Opportunity

Position Summary: Reporting directly to the Director of Care, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is an unregulated member of the interprofessional health care team who provides ongoing client care. The HCA observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in physical and emotional status. The HCA ensures that changes in client status are reported to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

This position delivers prescribed medications accurately as per policy and procedure. In keeping with Carewest’s Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care and Carewest policies this position maintains professional and ethical standards at all times. Responsible for other related duties as required.

Program Summary

Complex Care – for frail seniors who require the care of an interdisciplinary team to maintain and improve quality of life in safe, comfortable and supportive environments. Carewest offers a mix of secured and unsecured units.

Qualifications & Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required, plus graduation from an Alberta Government recognized Health Care Aide program.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English is required.
  • Must be physically capable of managing the frequent lifting, transferring and repositioning of clients.
  • Active and current registration in the Alberta HCA Directory required.
  • Related experience in a health care facility is an asset.
  • Program specific training/experience is an asset.
