Municipal Worker 1 - Parks Summer Student

Positions Available: 36

Term of Employment: Full‑Time, Summer Term (May 4, 2026 – August 21, 2026)

Rate of Pay: Student Wage Band: $18.05 per hour (Subject to CUPE 1015 Agreement)

Location: Parks & Green Spaces Team (Budmiller All Seasons Park, Parks General and Lloydminster Golf & Curling Club)

Duties

The Municipal Worker 1 performs a variety of parks and open‑space maintenance, including all activities associated with turf, tree, flower and shrub bed maintenance, throughout the City of Lloydminster, in a safe and efficient manner. Duties may also include the care of sports fields, playgrounds, and other city amenities. The Municipal Worker will participate in the City of Lloydminster’s Safety Management System. Other relevant duties may be assigned as required.

Schedule

Normal working hours are Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with the occasional requirement to work outside these hours, including weekend rotation. Start times may vary from 5:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m. depending on departmental needs.

Qualifications
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Vehicle Operator’s License (registered in Alberta or Saskatchewan) with a clear driver’s abstract.
  • Must be in good physical condition.
  • Previous experience operating riding lawnmowers, push lawnmowers, and string trimmers will be considered an asset.
  • The ability to lift up to 25 kg (50 lbs).
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • This position is contingent on receiving a satisfactory criminal record check prior to start date.
Special Instructions

Applicants must be attending a post‑secondary program (college or university) during the last school term and returning to studies in the subsequent academic year. Verification of student status will be required.
