Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and making sound credit decisions on mortgage applications in accordance with Secure Capital MIC’s policies, regulatory guidelines, and risk appetite.

Responsibilities
  • Review and assess mortgage applications for compliance with internal guidelines, underwriting policies, and industry regulations.
  • Analyze applicant creditworthiness, income stability, collateral quality, and debt service ratios.
  • Conduct risk assessments and make sound recommendations for approval, decline, or modifications.
  • Collaborate with mortgage brokers, agents, and internal stakeholders to clarify requirements and obtain necessary documentation.
  • Ensure all applications are processed within established turnaround times without compromising quality.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records in the underwriting system.
  • Stay current on mortgage industry trends, regulations, and lending practices.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mortgage underwriting, preferably within a MIC or private lender.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage regulations, underwriting standards, and real estate market trends.
  • Proficiency in interpreting credit reports, appraisals, income documents, and legal agreements.
