Qualifications

Job description
Come work as a Millwright with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Millwright to join the Plant Maintenance team at UBC Hospital in Vancouver, BC.

As a Millwright with VCH you will:
  • Perform skilled millwright work at the journeyman level in assembling, installing, aligning, altering, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, inspecting, dismantling and moving industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Fabricate and install machine parts and components.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical repairs to equipment and mechanical and electrical repairs on systems approaching the journeyman level.
Qualifications

Education, Training & Experience

  • Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) recognized by the Province of BC. Two (2) years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check. As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
