We’re on the hunt for a Mission Systems & Operations Engineer or Member of Technical Staff (MTS) on our Robotics & Space Operations team at our Brampton office.

With 40 years of operational experience and proven performance on the iconic Canadarm programs including Space Shuttle and International Space Station robotics and operations support, our Robotics & Space Operations team has 100% mission success in making space dreams come true.

We have combined complex robotics with control software to develop mission critical robotic systems such as the Mobile Servicing System (MSS) for the International Space Station (ISS) and, previously, the robotic arms for the Space Shuttle. The MSS serves a vital role in keeping the ISS operational through continuous robotic operations to maintain and repair the space station, enable resupply missions and support a host of daily ISS operations. Today, MDA is developing sophisticated systems for new projects such as an artificial intelligence-enabled robotic system known as Gateway External Robotics System (GERS) – to assemble and maintain a lunar staging outpost orbiting the moon enabling future exploration missions, human lunar landings, missions to explore Mars and on-orbit servicing of satellites.

As our Mission Systems & Operations Engineer or Member of Technical Staff (MTS), you will have the opportunity to undertake a variety of exciting and diverse set of engineering challenges on our International Space Station and Gateway External Robotics System (GERS) program.

The Position

In this role, the candidate will be part of the Logistics and Sustaining Engineering (L&SE) group that provides systems engineering support to the Canada’s robotic systems known as the Mobile Servicing System (MSS) onboard the International Space Station (ISS). • Provide engineering support to real-time robotic operations of space station assembly and maintenance missions involving Canadarm2 and Dextre
  • Troubleshoot system behavior anomalies –both on-orbit or on-ground systems; determine root cause, and the appropriate technical resolution
  • Develop high-level system functional and test requirements, based upon the end user needs and/or stated requirements
  • Analyze and decompose systems‑level requirements and allocate requirements and design margin across sub‑system elements
  • Develop and ensure proper documentation of technical and interface requirements
  • Derive V&V, End‑to‑end test procedures and perform testing based on system test requirements
  • Prepare Formal Qualification Test Report for software flight readiness
  • Define Test facility and test tools requirements
  • Understand and assess design issues, determine appropriate resolutions, and work with the team to address
  • Review, analyze, and interpret telemetry from deployed system with context and understanding of the system development life cycle
Qualifications

Interested candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Engineering Physics, or Computer Engineering and/or Applied Mathematics. A degree in Science or Physics with 2 plus years of relevant experience in SW testing is also acceptable.
