A regional healthcare provider in British Columbia seeks a Medical Leader for Quality at Mission Memorial Hospital. This part-time position is focused on enhancing patient safety and quality initiatives among healthcare professionals. The Medical Leader, Quality Physician at Mission Memorial Hospital is a leadership role to provide direction to physicians and other health care providers on quality and patient safety initiatives. The aim is to improve quality and support the reduction of medical / health care errors that contribute to adverse patient outcomes at each acute care site. You will work with fellow physician leaders and other clinical staff to promote physician engagement and capacity building in quality improvement, and will collaborate with senior leadership and staff to identify evidence-based strategies to ensure best practice at the site.
Job Summary: The Quality Physician Medical Leader role is a new opportunity to lead quality and patient safety initiatives at the acute care site, collaborating with the Clinical Quality and Patient Safety department, senior leadership, department leaders, regional leaders and support systems.
Overview: The Medical Leader is a physician who champions a culture of safety in clinical service delivery and establishes evidence-based patient care models to increase patient safety at their acute care site. The role reports to the Executive Medical Director, Clinical Quality and Patient Safety, and is part of the Leadership team including the Regional Medical Director / Regional Department Head, Local Department Heads, and other Medical Leads.
The position dedicates approximately seven hours per month to leadership activities, including partnering with the local Process Improvement coordinator, reviewing patient safety reports, identifying quality improvement projects, attending quarterly Patient Safety Priorities Update meetings, producing semi-annual quality project outcome reports, providing monthly status updates to site leadership, and presenting to the HQOMC every three months. Hours are flexible; evening meetings and travel may be required. The position is for one year.
Key Areas of Involvement Include providing local site leadership to physicians and other health care providers on quality and patient safety initiatives.
