Overview

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

The Medical Equipment Technician will provide a safe working environment for patients and staff by using best business practices to manage medical resources, equipment, services and processes within Selkirk Mental Health Centre. The Medical Equipment Technician is thoroughly familiar with all installation, maintenance and basic repair of medical equipment including lifting/transferring equipment, mobility equipment, first aid kits, AEDs, and laboratory equipment. The incumbent must work independently to manage the preventative medical maintenance program ensuring all medical equipment operates smoothly and safely on a daily basis. Work may involve the supervision and/or instruction of acting status technicians.

Experience
  • Experience developing policies and procedures required.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in a related field with experience in a health care setting required.
Qualifications And Skills
  • Familiarity with the Accreditation Canada process required.
  • Demonstrated problem identification, analysis and resolution skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Demonstrates mechanical aptitude and technical skills to complete basic repairs of medical equipment required.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.
  • Ability to work on own for long periods with minimum supervision/direction required.
  • Ability to instruct others in all phases of the equipment program required.
  • Ability to undertake on-the-job training courses as necessary required.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.
