Job description

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, and collaborating closely with the Executive Team, the VP of Production and Operations will play a critical leadership role within the company. The primary responsibilities include managing overall production functions, materials management, warehousing, and maintenance.

The VP will ensure GMP manufacturing and safety standards are maintained, working extensively with the production floor, tech transfer, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, and program management teams. The ideal candidate will have proven experience leading a world-class manufacturing organization.

The VP primarily interacts with internal stakeholders such as: production teams, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Mechanical and Engineering Services, Materials Management, and Human Resources.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical and consumer health products, adhering to procedures, safety practices, and GMP.
  • Lead activities of warehouse, materials management, maintenance, packaging, formulation, and aseptic processing teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement in daily operations to meet plant goals.
  • Negotiate resolutions for issues impacting production.
  • Achieve the Local Operating Plan.
  • Set plant manufacturing performance objectives/KPIs and communicate these effectively.
  • Implement systems for metrics reporting.
  • Evaluate variances and resolve issues.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including Health Canada and FDA.
  • Maintain up-to-date training and quality programs, including CAPA metrics.
  • Motivate and develop staff to exceed expectations.
  • Support learning and development objectives.
  • Promote cross-functional training and team environment.
  • Provide performance feedback and resolve issues promptly.
  • Establish operational standards to improve productivity, quality, and reduce costs.

Industry, academic, and functional qualifications include:

  • University degree in a related scientific discipline (M.S./PhD preferred).
  • Proven leadership and technical problem-solving skills.
  • At least 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing in a senior management role.
