Job description

Position Overview

TD Wealth Management Technology team is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of Engineers implementing solutions in alignment with the firm’s technology strategy, vision and roadmap. The team is responsible for designing, developing and delivering technology solutions for TD’s Direct Investing Product Group.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a development team of 10‑25 Java developers, building services and user interfaces. Provide guidance on implementation, architecture and design, review pull requests and implement software development best practices.
• Work with Product Owners, technology business analysts and QE to understand regulatory and business requirements, define technology solutions and implement them strategically and efficiently.
• Communicate development issues and priorities to business stakeholders. Help prioritize incoming business and technical requirements and refine them into work items for the team.
• People‑management responsibility for the team. Provide support to the team in meeting performance objectives.
• Liaise with infrastructure and engineering teams to define hardware and system requirements. Define DevOps requirements and work to ensure they are implemented.
• Assist with L3 production support and lead the team in supporting ongoing application maintenance and changes. Resolve production issues when they occur.
• Ensure applications meet all relevant regulatory and audit requirements. Proactively manage issues from discovery to resolution.

Requirements / Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience leading a Java development team.
• 10 years Java experience and experience building microservices, REST APIs, JSON, Autosys for batch jobs, Dynatrace for application supportability.
• 3+ years’ experience with an RDBMS system like Oracle or SQL Server.
• Pro‑active with excellent communication skills. Highly organized with strong problem‑solving and prioritization abilities.
• Experience in financial services and wealth management preferred.
• Experience with Jira/Confluence (or similar tools) to manage project scope, progress and deliverables.
• Some experience with cloud technologies preferred.
