About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular Full‑time Manager - Custom Productivity Solutions to join our Internal Customer Experience team in our Digital Solutions and Technology division.

IT Internal Customer Experience team manages the delivery and operation of IT services related to employee experience and productivity, blood operations, data & analytics and optimization, making IT more effective, reliable and consistent.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Productivity Applications, you will lead the department that serves as the primary point of contact for day‑to‑day Information Systems support and planning for internal IT and functional client groups within your scope. You will be responsible for researching, analyzing, defining, recommending, developing/configuring, testing, implementing, and supporting IT Business Solutions for Canadian Blood Services (CBS), working closely with CBS client groups and ensuring all solutions comply with regulatory requirements.

Formula for success
  • Establishes and maintains co‑operative working relationships with client groups and other IT groups to identify business needs, program initiatives or changes requiring information systems development and/or support
  • Investigates and recommends solutions for new capabilities and/or enhancements to existing capabilities based on customer requirements.
  • Working with the clients, develops the business case and stewards it through the approvals and budgeting process, for the procurement or development of systems identified for implementation.
  • Performs regular environment scanning and review of new technology introductions within their domain to guide and advise customers on appropriate options and solutions.
  • Consults with other IT teams accountable for infrastructure and operational services to ensure the required hardware, software and operating systems on which the applications operate meet the business requirements for stability, resiliency, scalability and security.
  • Manage relationships with vendors that develop, enhance or support the systems.
  • Develops and oversees implementation of individual development plans and provides coaching and mentoring to continuously develop team members.
  • Provides or arranges the sharing of expertise with customers and other IT teams on systems and business processes within their purview. These include, but are not limited to:
    • Enterprise Content Management (Documentum, OpenText)
    • Quality Management Systems (ETQ)
    • Productivity & Collaboration platforms (MS365)
    • Manages the Employee Adaptability program to drive increased end user adoption of major applications and platforms.
Desired education and skills
  • Post‑secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution.
  • Six to ten years of directly related progressive leadership experience including involvement in business systems implementation within a mid‑size organization.
  • Experience managing a development team or organization with strong proficiency in Agile methodologies and delivery processes.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with stakeholders from various functional areas.
  • Influencing without authority and negotiation skills are required in engagements with stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Strong communication skills are essential including verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Business acumen to understand business processes and challenges.

What you can expect
  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at 2540 Lancaster Road, Ottawa, Ontario at least 40% of the time / 2 days of the week.
  • You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day.
  • This role may require travel for team meetings, project work, and other work‑related commitments.
