Overview

We’re hiring a Static Equipment Mechanical Engineer in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining and enhancing the performance of various static equipment classes (e.g. piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, furnaces, tanks, boilers etc.)

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum of twelve years related engineering experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Must be a Professional Engineer or eligible for membership with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
  • Knowledge in static equipment inspection, maintenance and design, fabrication codes as well as post construction specifications for pressure vessels, furnaces, heat exchangers and process and slurry piping
  • Experience using mechanical design tools for static equipment (such as PV Elite, CAESAR II stress analysis, SagePlus, CodeCalc) to support design verification and Fitness for Service (FFS) assessment
  • A valid driver's licence
Responsibilities
  • General mechanical engineering support relating to static equipment FFS assessment, repair specifications, re-rate assessment, failure investigation, purchase specification, equipment strategies support to site operating units
  • Suggest improvements to plant operation and reliability through innovative engineering, and resolve root cause performance problems with static pressure equipment
  • Work collaboratively with process, maintenance and technical personnel to resolve plant and system issues
  • Responsible for achieving code compliance and/or governing authority endorsement of designs produced personally or by junior personnel under your guidance
  • Offer mentorship to other engineers by reviewing and authenticating specification deviations and engineering packages
Location and other key details
  • You will work out of the Syncrude Mildred Lake location in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
