Job summary

A local educational institution is seeking a Teacher Long Term Occasional for Grade 1. This role focuses on delivering high-quality instruction and effective communication within a team environment. Candidates must have basic teaching qualifications and a commitment to student achievement. Knowledge of Ontario Curriculum and experience with digital learning tools are essential. The position is part-time at 0.2 FTE, effective immediately, for an indefinite period but not extending beyond June 26, 2026.

Qualifications

Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board invites applications for the position of:

TEACHER LONG TERM OCCASIONAL (LTO) – ST. HUBERT

0.2 FTE (Wednesdays) – Grade 1

Effective immediately for an indefinite period but not to extend beyond June 26, 2026.

Mandatory Requirements
  • Basic qualifications to teach in the Primary Division
Preferred Requirements
  • Sound knowledge of the programs and teaching experience in the above division
  • Repertoire of current instructional and assessment strategies
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Understanding of the Ontario Curriculum, the Ontario Kindergarten Program (2016), and effective strategies to teach Literacy and Numeracy
  • Knowledge and experience in supporting comprehensive (structured) literacy and the use of student data to drive instruction
  • Knowledge and experience in utilizing student learning management systems such as Google Classroom, Google Meet, as well as additional G-Suite digital tools and Edsby to facilitate instruction and effective communication with parents
  • Proven ability to implement effective classroom management strategies
  • Commitment to being an active participant in the school's professional learning team to promote student achievement
  • Willingness to actively assume extra-curricular duties
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with the school environment would be an asset
  • Additional qualifications in Special Education would be an asset
