Local News Producer Rogers TV - 24 Month Contract
Who we're looking for:

We’re looking for a dedicated Local News Producer with a passion for local affairs and an interest to collaborate with community members to bring outstanding local content to our viewers in the Okanagan region.

What you'll do:
  • Produce relevant local news content with high production quality.
  • Research, develop, and pitch story ideas to Station Manager for approval.
  • Deliver content to Master Control, ensuring accurate associated metadata in the scheduling and distribution system.
  • Engage local creators and mentor volunteers to strengthen community programming.
  • Build and maintain relationships with the local community.
  • Stay up to date of the available production equipment, participating in training sessions as new equipment is introduced.
  • Work collaboratively, cultivating positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
What you'll bring:
  • A passion for news and storytelling - you know what makes a great story and know how to tell it.
  • A creative, agile, and decisive approach with the ability to tackle multiple projects and to deliver on deadline.
  • Strong interpersonal, public relations, training and media related skills.
  • A keen interest in improving skills needed to support various production tasks and solve technical problems when necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities to effectively recruit, mentor, and manage a diverse group of volunteers.
  • Self‑starter who works well with minimal direction.
  • An understanding of community television and the production process are considered assets.
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license

To protect our people, brand and assets, a pre‑employment background check will be conducted. As part of our selection process, all candidates must clear a criminal background check. Additionally, a credit check and drivers abstract may be required depending on the role.

Schedule: Full time
Shift: Variable
Length of Contract: 12 Months
Work Location: 2350 Hunter Road (7788), Kelowna, BC
Travel Requirements: Up to 10%
