What You’ll Be Doing
  • Reports to the Shift Supervisor or alternate and works closely with Shift Managers and the Production Manager.
  • Translate an excellent understanding of the packaging area into clear communication with stakeholders including Production, Maintenance, QC and Warehouse personnel.
  • Set the pace as an effective leader to direct and supervise the day-to-day operations of a staff of 10 or more hourly packaging employees.
  • Develop talent through team synergy and delivery of continuous training and guidance to all packaging staff.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of product specifications and the impact the packaging department has on First Time Quality and Food Safety programs.
  • Work closely with the maintenance department to assess packaging equipment optimization, troubleshooting and proper operation of equipment.
  • Accurately record and maintain required documentation through SPC, WMS, AS400, etc. Ensure precise measurement and ongoing improvement of factory KPIs across the QCDSME framework.
  • Lead by example and comply with all GMPs, safety practices, and Best Operating Procedures.
  • Promote continuous improvement and workplace safety.
  • Assist Production Supervisor in writing and delivering performance reviews (PEP) and provide consultation/disciplinary action when required.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
  • Minimum of two years packaging experience preferred.
  • Self-motivated with good organizing and coordinating skills and a proven ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to encourage open communication and sharing of ideas among team members.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel), AS400 applications and InfinityQS software.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience with 5S, Kaizen, Visual Controls and Standard Work.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize using effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Physically capable of performing all duties including some heavy lifting (up to 70lbs).
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a valid forklift license.
  • Minimum Grade 12 education. Post-secondary education may be preferred.

Compensation Package: Starting at 35.63 CAD hourly + Bonus eligibility + Hourly Pay Differential for applicable shifts
