Traine Construction and Development (Traine) is currently seeking a reliable, safety-focused Labourer to join our site team in St. Catharines, Ontario.

As a Labourer, you will report directly to the Site Superintendent and work as part of a small, stable, and experienced site crew. This is a hands‑on, physically demanding role that requires consistent site presence, reliable availability, and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

You will receive daily direction and regular feedback from site leadership to support your success and ensure expectations are clear.

What This Role Is Like
  • Work with a core group of familiar faces, not constantly changing crews
  • Have daily check‑ins with your Site Superintendent
  • Expectations are clearly communicated and consistently applied
  • Safety, communication, and teamwork are taken seriously on site
  • Require reliable, ongoing availability and regular on‑site presence
Key Responsibilities
Site Support & Organization
  • Load, unload, move, and organize materials, tools, and equipment according to site plans
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard‑free worksite
  • Assist with site set‑up and tear‑down as required
Construction & Labour Tasks
  • Assist trades and site personnel (e.g., carpentry, civil, QA) as directed
  • Dig trenches, backfill excavations, compact and level earth to grade
  • Mix, pour, and spread concrete and other materials
  • Grind, scrape, sand, or prepare surfaces using hand or power tools
  • Measure, mark, and record layout points for construction activities
Tools, Equipment & Safety
  • Safely operate hand and power tools (e.g., drills, saws, compactors, mixers)
  • Assist with scaffolding, shoring, barricades, ramps, and temporary structures
  • Use pumps, compressors, generators, and related equipment
  • Control pedestrian and vehicle traffic near work zones when required
  • Follow all site safety procedures and communicate hazards immediately
Communication & Teamwork
  • Communicate task progress clearly and raise safety concerns or questions promptly
  • Ask for clarification or support when needed to complete work safely and efficiently
  • Work collaboratively with site leadership and crew members to maintain a respectful, productive work environment
Qualifications and Experience
  • Previous construction or labour experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain consistent attendance and punctuality
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and safe lifting techniques
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
  • Physically capable of repetitive lifting (up to 75 lbs), standing, walking, and working outdoors in varying conditions
  • Comfortable working on‑site daily and following a structured work schedule
  • Willingness to receive direction, feedback, and coaching from site leadership
  • Strong commitment to working safely and following established procedures
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • First Aid / CPR certification considered an asset
