A healthcare organization in Alberta is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant I to provide high-quality service in their laboratory. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience, proficiency in blood collection, and urinalysis. Located in Rocky Mountain House, this role offers a chance to impact community health positively.
You're precise, analytical, and detail-oriented - just the kind of person we need at Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) located in Rocky Mountain House. You can follow lab processes and procedures exactly, enter the associated data reliably and correctly, and discern subtle differences in lab samples, including urinalysis. Rocky Mountain House Hospital and Care Centre is a busy facility servicing a wide area, so you can expect some day-to-day variety in your work. The position includes days and weekends. Rocky Mountain House is a small town with easy access to Red Deer. Rocky Mountain House's slogan is Where Adventure Begins. This position also includes home collections and collections outside of the facility. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications: Equivalencies may be considered. Minimum 2 years\' experience. Cardiology training and experience including ECG\'s and Holter Monitors. All blood collection procedures including venipuncture, micropunctures, Type & Screen, blood culture collection as well as collections on all patient ages including newborns, pediatrics and geriatrics. Recent macro and micro urinalysis experience. Class 5 Driver\'s License is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiar with Clinitek Advantus. Recent experience with Muse and Cardioday. Recent and relevant experience with Epic Beaker. Current registration with CSMLS. Ability to communicate effectively in English. Good organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and promote teamwork.
