Job Description
Position title: Kettle Coordinator III (short-term contract)
Position purpose summary: The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century-old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to others. The Kettle Coordinator III oversees various Salvation Army Christmas campaigns and coordinates staff and volunteers. This role may support one or multiple campaigns such as Christmas Kettle Campaign, Christmas Hampers, Santa Shuffle, and Toy Drives campaigns.
Responsibilities
- Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign
- Provide support, direction and supervision of Christmas Campaign support staff
- Manage the collection of confidential information pertaining to clients and/or sponsors, ensuring updated records are maintained in the database
- Work with clients and sponsors to ensure the appropriate level of need is addressed through campaign requirements
- In partnership with other campaign coordinators, liaise with city, community agencies and businesses for promotional purposes
- Provide volunteer and worker training as required
- Prepare, coordinate and distribute correspondence to clients and/or sponsors
- Provide updated campaign information through statistical reporting requirements
- Solicit donations and/or sponsorship commitments in support of the assigned Christmas campaign
- Ensure the secure and safe keeping of all donated goods throughout the season
- Oversee the collection, sorting and distribution of items such as toys and hampers
- Coordinate the delivery and pick-up of donations as required
- Provide oversight and attend special events and activities
- Submit final campaign reports outlining highlights and recommendations for future campaign coordination
- Schedule kettle volunteers
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned

Internal: TSA staff members, Kettle campaign team, Christmas campaign team
External: Community members
Managerial/Technical Responsibilities
Reports directly to Lt. Jason Brinson.
Direct reports: Kettle Volunteers.
- Guide and direct campaign support workers and volunteers as necessary
- May participate in the recruitment of workers and volunteers
Financial and Material Management
- Responsible for the solicitation and secure keeping of donated goods
- This position is involved in minor financial matters regularly or on a relief basis and has responsibility for the wise use of resources
- May be authorized to spend, disburse, or collect small amounts of cash
- This position has very little input in annual budget or revenue projections
- All responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Army’s Mission Statement and code of conduct
Working Conditions
Work environment is typically in office, malls/stores, and warehouse. Some standing periods will be required and exposure to cold weather. All responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Army’s Mission Statement and code of conduct.
Education, Experience and Qualifications
- Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications for position responsibilities
- Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures
- Alternative combination of education and experience may be considered
- Education: Completion of high school
- Qualifications: Completion of Voluntary Sector Management, Business Administration, Public Relations or HR programs is an asset
- Experience: Two years of related experience or work in customer service; money handling experience is an asset; volunteer coordination experience is an asset; previous supervisory/management experience is an asset; working understanding of budgets and financial record keeping; knowledge of available community resources is an asset
- Skills and Capabilities: Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; enthusiastic team player; ability to lift up to 20 lbs; strong customer service skills; ability to work under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities; ability to maintain strict confidentiality; strong organization and communication skills; highly adaptable and motivated; basic leadership skills
Compensation
The target hiring range for this position is $17.11 to $21.38 with a maximum of $25.66. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
