Overview

Adecco is actively seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Intermediate Building Science / Building Envelope Engineer in Sudbury, ON. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to join a reputable and growing engineering firm specializing in building science, restoration, and consulting services. This is a great opportunity to work on impactful commercial and residential projects in Northern Ontario, alongside a collaborative team of professionals.

Pay Rate : $75k-$100k / year.

Location : Sudbury, ON

Job type : Permanent | Full-time

Responsibilities
  • Leading design and analysis of building envelope systems for both new construction and restoration projects.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including architects, contractors, and fellow engineers to integrate building science best practices.
  • Conducting on-site inspections and assessments, including visual reviews, destructive testing, and performance evaluations of building envelope components.
  • Reviewing and preparing technical documents, including engineering reports, project specifications, and construction documentation.
  • Overseeing field work, including construction monitoring and reporting on building envelope-related activities.
  • Providing mentorship and technical oversight to junior engineers and technologists.
  • Preparing proposals and assisting with project planning and client communications.
  • Staying current with industry trends, new technologies, building code updates, and sustainable building practices.
Requirements
  • Legal eligibility to work and reside in Canada.
  • Completion of a degree in an engineering program with a focus on Building Science, Architectural, Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering work experience, with a focus on projects related to the field of building science.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, construction, and contract legislation.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, engineers, architects, and co-workers.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills, for concurrent handling of multiple in-progress projects.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Detail-oriented with strong critical and analytical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
  • Thermography Level 1, 2 or 3 certification considered an asset.
  • Comfortable with field work including climbing ladders, working at heights (e.g., swing stages), and exposure to weather.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
