Salary : $28.76 / hour

Job Description
  • Build working relationships with clients who have complex needs inside and outside the shelter.
  • Support clients living rough (in encampments, tents, outside) and at the shelter with complex needs to access shelter services, harm reduction supports, and treatment access.
  • Support clients to develop harm reduction plans to utilize harm reduction techniques and technologies to mitigate overdoses.
  • Collaborate with safe supply clinics, pharmacies, and primary care providers.
  • Assist clients in accessing shelters, services, resources, and housing.
  • Conduct perimeter walks around shelter(s).
  • Accompany clients into the community as needed to provide support and services.
  • Make referrals to addiction, harm reduction, mental health, and physical health supports and services.
  • Provide harm reduction education to clients individually and in groups.
  • Share client information with team members to help develop crisis and support plans.
  • Complete assessments to inform support and crisis plans.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individual support and crisis plans for clients.
  • Respond to conflicts using crisis intervention, discretion, and prevention skills.
  • Work from a Housing First, Harm Reduction, and Trauma-Informed Care philosophy.
  • Regularly visit clients to update assessments, support plans, and obtain consents.
  • Receive training to respond to overdoses using oxygen, oximeters, intramuscular naloxone, and nasal naloxone.
  • Maintain accurate client documentation and reports, and contribute data for organizational reports.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum one year of related experience, post-secondary education, or equivalent.
  • Ability to compile information and complete reports.
  • Experience with case management software systems.
  • Strong harm reduction skills.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and negotiation.
  • Knowledge of mental health and addiction issues with relevant experience.
Additional experience with these issues
  • Individuals lacking primary health care or struggling with medication adherence.
  • Experience with harm reduction approaches and referrals.
  • Knowledge of navigating the criminal justice system; court, probation, legal clinics, police (asset).
  • Professional boundaries and communication skills.
  • Certificate in Homelessness Harm Reduction (preferred).
Considered an asset
  • Knowledge of group dynamics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Certificates in First Aid, CPR, Crisis Prevention, and Intervention.
  • Ability to work evenings.
  • Experience with homelessness, diversity, anti-discrimination, systemic issues.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds.
