Job Summary

The Inspection Trainee in Nisku, Alberta will assist Operators in the inspection and minor repair of tubular goods and is responsible for pipe handling, cleaning and inspection and minor repair of tubular goods, including drill pipe.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Assisting Operators in the utilization of the drift machine and pipe rotators.
  • Thread inspection
  • Magnetic Particle Inspection
  • Cleaning and minor repair of pipe threads
  • Drifting of tubulars
  • Removal and application of thread compounds
  • Equipment set up and tear down
  • Equipment calibration as directed
  • Basic maintenance
  • General housekeeping and shop cleanup
  • Responsible to follow all applicable company and corporate policies, guiding principles, procedures and programs; including but not limited to the process map, support processes, health, safety and environmental requirements
  • Participate in training programs as required by the company
  • All other duties as assigned
Qualification Requirements
  • High school education with the ability to read, write and speak a minimum amount of English to perform job duties
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to customer service
  • Standard First Aid and H2S Alive training preferred
HSE Requirements
  • Work is performed in a shop and yard environment. Possibility to be exposed to dust, fumes or gases and changes of temperature/humidity.
  • Physical requirements: squatting, bending, reaching, twisting, lifting up to 23 kilograms, walking on rough ground, and working near moving equipment.
  • Required to at all times wear proper protective clothing and equipment and perform duties in a safe manner.
