Job summary

A recruitment and solutions firm based in Vancouver is seeking an HR Generalist to enhance HR policies and procedures, lead recruitment efforts, and support employee relations. This role requires at least 5 years of HR experience, particularly in the construction industry, along with a strong knowledge of relevant regulations. Overview

Are you an HR professional who is looking to expand your career, lead your own team, and develop within a quickly growing company in Vancouver?

Matchbox Consulting Group is working with a leading electrical engineering services contract based out of the heart of Vancouver on a search for an HR Generalist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and improve HR policies, programs, and procedures in compliance with BC employment standards and WorkSafeBC regulations.
  • Provide day-to-day HR support including employee relations, conflict resolution, performance management, and workplace investigations.
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment: create job postings, source candidates, conduct interviews, check references, and negotiate offers.
  • Oversee smooth onboarding and orientation to ensure engagement and retention.
  • Champion occupational health and safety initiatives; maintain compliance with WorkSafeBC and construction safety requirements.
  • Conduct safety meetings, incident investigations, and audits, and track safety metrics and corrective actions.
  • Manage and optimize HRIS for accurate records, reporting, and analytics; produce HR metrics such as turnover and recruitment KPIs.
  • Coordinate training needs, leadership development, and succession planning.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive HR experience with exposure to full-cycle recruitment.
  • Experience in the construction industry or a closely related trades/field-services environment is required.
  • Strong knowledge of BC employment standards, WorkSafeBC regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency in HRIS platforms and HR data reporting.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • CPHR designation (or working toward) considered an asset.
