Site Description

The Labrador Health Centre is located in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. The hospital has 25 beds, a 24‑hour Emergency Department and Outpatient Clinics, staffed by Family Physicians. An education agreement with Memorial University of Newfoundland trains Family Practice Residents with faculty members on site. Each Family Physician is also responsible for the medical care of a North Coast community. Specialists include a General Surgeon, an Anesthetist and an Obstetrician/Gynecologist. There are a number of visiting specialists who provide services at the Labrador Health Centre on a regular basis.

Position Details

Position: Full‑Time Shift Lead
Site: Labrador Health Centre
Overtime: After 48 hours
Hours: Monday – Friday with flexible hours (for emergencies/support)
Payrate: $26.63 / hour
Posting Date: December 11, 2025
Internal Closing Date: January 25, 2026

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure all site staff adhere to Paladin Security Policies and NL Health Services Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain regular communication and engagement with NL Health Services site Management.
• Ensure all Security Officers have received mandatory site orientation, training and required compliance training.
• Demonstrate superior customer service skills and a passion for helping people; think quickly on your feet and defuse difficult situations.
• Motivate staff and recommend commendations to their respected Supervisor.
• Document and investigate security incidents and complaints; ensure proper documentation is forwarded in accordance with the chain of command in a timely manner.
• Complete daily paperwork: advanced reports, sign‑in sheets, overtime authorizations, shift swaps, incident reports, and any other required forms; check for updated documents from the client.
• Supervise the security officers assigned to the site and act as a resource for security issues in accordance with the health authority and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with departmental site scheduling, ensuring all shifts are covered and providing coverage where needed.
• Participate in unscheduled and scheduled meetings and last‑minute bookings for sick employees or shift coverage.
• Perform site patrols and respond to all necessary codes and calls.
• Assist with conducting regular fire drills and security education sessions; maintain records and prepare incident reports and other safety and security documentation.
• Perform other duties as requested by the client (NL Health Services) in conjunction with Paladin management.

Prerequisites

• Clean letter of conduct and Vulnerable sector check.
• Valid First Aid & CPR – Level C (from a CSA‑approved vendor).
• Valid class 5 driver license.
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must.
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB).
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to onboarding.
• Paladin will cover all costs of the UoF/MOAB training with a 6‑month commitment to the position/availability; the training is not paid.
