The Opportunity

As a Hazmat Responder you will be joining the Field Operations Team in our Response Division, providing impeccable service to a dynamic group of companies. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe handling, transportation, and disposal of hazardous materials. You should have a high degree of mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity and excellent problem‑solving skills. We have a diverse portfolio of projects in various locations; you should be flexible to relocate frequently.

Responsibilities
  • Capable of leading team members on job sites
  • Perform hazardous material spill response and cleanup activities following established protocols and regulations
  • Safely operate specialized equipment and tools used in hazmat cleanup and containment
  • Conduct site assessments to determine the nature and extent of hazardous materials present
  • Implement appropriate containment, mitigation, and disposal procedures to minimize environmental impact
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure effective communication and coordination during emergency response situations
  • Maintain accurate records of materials handled, actions taken, and cleanup processes
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with hazmat regulations and best practices
  • Assist in the maintenance and calibration of hazmat response equipment
  • Shop maintenance
Qualifications

  • N.F.P.A. 1072 – Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Technician
  • Prior experience in handling hazardous materials, spill response, or related fields is preferred
  • Strong understanding of federal, provincial, and local regulations related to hazardous materials
  • Must live within 30 minutes of Okotoks Shop
