Job description

Job Overview

The FRP Process Engineer is a hands-on position responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating manufacturing equipment, tooling, and processes to produce high-quality fiberglass reinforced products. This role involves coordinating manufacturing efforts during new project launches, establishing and supporting manufacturing processes, and driving continuous process improvements. Additionally, the engineer mentors and trains junior engineers, process technicians, and maintenance personnel.

A Day In The Life

  1. Develop new processes, troubleshoot production issues, and implement technical solutions to improve quality and efficiency.
  2. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, process technicians, and other molding operations personnel.
  3. Develop and maintain process documentation to ensure clarity and understanding for all employees. Provide daily technical support to manufacturing operations.
  4. Collaborate with equipment and material vendors to resolve machine or material issues.
  5. Monitor and report equipment/process issues, recommending refurbishments based on production data.
  6. Work with Quality Assurance to uphold standards and enhance capabilities.
  7. Establish guidelines, standards, and develop training matrices.
  8. Use data to implement strategic planning aimed at increasing productivity.
  9. Indirectly manage workflow through input to the area supervisor.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in a relevant engineering field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in a resin-based business, preferably FRP.
  • CAD experience and familiarity with tool design.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects with limited supervision.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead others, including indirect supervision of molding Process Technicians.
