Financial Reporting Team Lead – Maternity Leave Contract

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare quarterly consolidated financial statements, MD&A, and management reporting packages.
  • Analyze consolidated trial balances and prepare variance explanations for the VP Finance, CFO, and audit committee.
  • Perform account analysis, including intercompany eliminations and reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly working papers and schedules for selected accounts.

Audit, Compliance & Controls

  • Serve as liaison during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Manage the internal control program in coordination with external consultants.
  • Conduct IFRS accounting research for new standards and ad hoc issues.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Enhance reporting packages using WDesk (Workiva) and Prophix.
  • Support system selection, implementation, and optimization projects.
  • Assist CFO and VP Finance with special projects, including purchase price allocations and process improvements.
  • Create efficiencies in month-end and quarter-end processes through automation and best practices.

Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • 3–5 years post-qualification experience in public financial reporting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Great Plains, WDesk, Prophix, or similar systems.
  • Oil and gas industry experience, especially in oilfield services, is an asset.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management and ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative, detail-oriented, and proactive attitude.
