We have partnered with a growing international energy services company to support them in hiring for their next Financial Reporting Accountant.

Our client is a well-established energy services firm with operations across Canada and the Caribbean. The Financial Reporting Accountant will support financial reporting and accounting operations across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with IFRS and other applicable accounting standards. The role requires expertise in OpenInvoice and international finance, as well as the ability to prepare financial statements, reconcile accounts, and support audits. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment and can work independently while collaborating effectively with both finance and non-finance colleagues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The key job functions are:

  • Prepare and consolidate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for Canadian and Caribbean entities in compliance with IFRS and other accounting standards.
  • Review financial results to identify trends, variances, and areas requiring management attention.
  • Prepare working papers, schedules, and reconciliations to support financial statements and disclosures.
  • Maintain and update disclosure workbooks and reporting templates for internal and external purposes.
  • Perform and review complex account reconciliations including cash and bank accounts, prepaids, accruals, capital leases, and corporate credit cards.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure all journal entries are properly supported, reviewed, and recorded according to company policy.
  • Coordinate documentation for external auditors and prepare audit-ready files, adjusting journal entries and note disclosures as needed.
  • Assist with annual internal control testing and support regulatory and corporate governance compliance.
  • Manage vendor transactions and related journal entries through OpenInvoice and internal invoicing platforms.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and assist in developing new accounting procedures and controls.
  • Support ad hoc projects including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as assigned.

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required.
  • Current Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation is required.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and international financial reporting.
  • Experience with OpenInvoice and other financial systems.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and proficiency in Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint for reporting to executives and boards.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel considered a huge asset.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial reporting, accounting, or related roles, with experience in international finance preferred.
  • Experience in the oil and gas (O&G) sector is an asset.
  • Proven ability to prepare consolidated financial statements and manage multi-jurisdictional accounting.
  • Prior experience with OpenInvoice and interacting with international banking and finance operations.

Skills:

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling and reporting tools.
  • Strong proficiency in Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint for executive-level reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and able to handle challenges with composure.
  • Comfortable providing support across multiple projects and contributing to continuous process improvements.

Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $70,000-85,000 per year
  • Full benefits package included

Work Hours:

  • 40 hours per week

  • This opportunity does not include relocation. It will be the responsibility of the candidate should relocation be required.
