About Us

Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing is part of Alterra Mountain Company, a leading operator of ski resorts and adventure destinations across North America. In Blue River, BC, we operate in one of the most unique and exciting environments in the ski industry - helicopter skiing. Our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional guest experiences, supported by strong financial stewardship and operational excellence.

About the Role

We are seeking a Financial Business Analyst to join our team in Blue River, BC, working in the helicopter skiing industry as part of the Alterra Mountain Company family. This role combines financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and capital planning responsibilities with the opportunity to live and work in a truly one-of-a-kind location. You will prepare and present monthly financial results to executive leadership, support the annual planning process, manage capital budgets, and provide analytical insight into both operational and strategic initiatives. This is not your standard financial or business analyst role. If you are sharp, fast, and thrive in non-standard situations, this might be the most unique step in your career. We are seeking someone with the skills of an investment banking analyst, restructuring associate, or private equity associate - but who wants to trade city grind for mountain powder. This is a hands-on finance role paired with a lifestyle perk most only dream of: front door access to heli-skiing in world-class powder.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop internal financial reports, perform variance analysis, and conduct monthly P&L reviews with resort leadership.
  • Deliver monthly presentations of financial results and forecasts to executive leadership.
  • Coordinate the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes, consolidating inputs from corporate stakeholders and resort leadership.
  • Support capital planning through monitoring, forecasting, and reporting on expenditures.
  • Develop ad-hoc financial models and analyses to support decision-making (help answer "what if" questions).
  • Provide backup coverage for accounts payable, assist with SOP development, and POS system reconciliations.
  • Present directly to senior executives, with the expectation of precision and speed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience (investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, FP&A, or related fields preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Technical Agility
    • Ability to quickly absorb and understand existing financial models as well as develop new complex financial models based on large data sets.
    • Advanced experience with Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, etc), SharePoint, and Teams
    • Ability to quickly figure out new systems (i.e., lodging reservation system, corporate reporting systems, GL accounting system, food & beverage POS, retail POS, ...)
  • Foundational knowledge of accounting principles (debits, credits, accruals, prepaids).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (Fluent in English - native-level proficiency).
  • Ability to adapt quickly, work independently, and collaborate across teams.
  • Knowledge of hospitality or ski industry is an asset.
Benefits & Perks
  • Salary range $75K to $85K annually based on experience and qualifications
  • Eligible for Health and Dental and RRSP after 3 months
  • Paid sick and vacation days
  • Career growth potential within Alterra Mountain Company's diverse resort network.
