Overview

Job Summary: Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for leading the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Billing, and Customer Service Representative teams, ensuring that financial and business processes are aligned in contributing to the company’s overall profitability and effective cash flow management. The Accounting Manager is tasked with ensuring the relevant accounting standards are followed to facilitate accurate financial reporting processes and oversee a streamlined annual audit. The role is expected to play a key role in identifying areas for improvement and standardization of the system, adding value in the company’s ERP and accounting systems, including the current system and the development and implementation of any new systems.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Billing, and Customer Service Representative teams.
  • Build and maintain a positive team culture that emphasizes productivity and professional satisfaction for team members.
  • Assist in credit operations, managing a team, and ensuring effective credit management to minimize financial risk and maintain cash flow.
  • Balance the requirements of multiple stakeholder groups with competing priorities by leveraging varying expertise and the availability of team members.
  • Effectively delegate tasks while maintaining a strong understanding of the details behind the figures.
  • Process orientation to enable process and system improvements and effective review procedures of teamwork.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Financial Reporting & Taxation and Operational teams to enhance, implement, and maintain accounting reports, controls, and processes.
  • Liaise with customers directly and external counsel to enforce collection action on overdue account balances.
  • Prepare ad-hoc analyses to advise Executive Management on the financial implications of short-term and long-term plans, strategies, and identify potential opportunities and risks.
  • Monitor and enforce policies and procedures established by the company.
  • Identify, evaluate, and analyze existing financial and operational processes (system and people) for improvement.
  • Provide training and support to team members to ensure a comprehensive understanding of their area of focus.
  • Prepare routine analyses and reports to support the company’s decision-making process.
  • Provide training and support to team members to ensure a comprehensive understanding of new processes and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
What you need to succeed
  • Approximately 3+ years of experience in a Senior Accounting role (manager or supervisor).
  • Post-Secondary Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel, and proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheet programs, and applications.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Management and/or supervisory experience.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
