The Faculty of Education is seeking a dynamic early career scholar whose body of academic work demonstrates in depth knowledge and understanding of the relationship between theoretical knowledge and professional practice to provide high quality preparation of preservice teachers. The individual should be an experienced educator and collaborative colleague for one full‑time tenure‑track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Educational Foundations or a related field of study in Education. Applicants should define their scholarship through a disciplinary lens focused on education. Further the applicant’s study and teaching practice should bring historical, philosophical and/or sociological perspectives to educational questions. Our Faculty of Education is committed to fostering a rich understanding of Educational Foundations in our programming, which includes required courses in Educational Foundations for all undergraduate students in our three programs.
Academic duties include: (i) teaching undergraduate and graduate courses including course development and assessment of student work, supervision of undergraduate students in a practicum/internship setting and supervision of graduate student research; (ii) research and other original scholarly activities, as well as professional activities that contribute to a larger discourse; and (iii) other contributions to the University and scholarly communities.
Applicants will be expected to physically relocate to Lethbridge, Alberta to support students and actively engage in our university.
Qualifications include a doctorate in Educational Foundations or a related field. Applicants who are nearing completion of their doctoral degree may be considered. The successful candidate must have the ability and interest to teach courses in these areas and possess the ability to teach in and contribute to the Bachelor of Education in Early Years program, Bachelor of Education combined and after degree programs as well as relevant graduate programming.
The ability to teach online, face‑to‑face, and blended formats, and the ability to integrate innovative technology into teaching will be an asset. School‑based teaching experience in Alberta and Canada including eligibility for teacher certification is preferred but not required if the candidate has a strong acumen in the preferred areas listed below.
