Salary Range: $71,846.00 – $115,129.00 per annum. Placement on the faculty salary scale is based on education, professional certification and experience and will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

The Opportunity

The Sport Science Department in the Faculty of Science & Technology is seeking a Coordinator for their Graduate Diploma in Physical and Health Education (GDPHE) Program.

The GDPHE Coordinator position is integral to the leadership team and student experience in the Sport Science Department.

Requirements for the role
  • A Master’s degree in an applicable field required (PhD preferred).
  • BC Teacher Certification or equivalent (preferred).
  • Graduate-level work in Physical or Health Education.
  • Demonstrated interest and experience with K-12 education.
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving physical education and health teaching in schools.
  • Courses in the program have a substantial on-line component. Experience with on-line/hybrid course delivery systems is an asset.
  • Administrative experience would also be beneficial.
Primary Functions
  • Coordinate all aspects of Graduate Diploma course delivery, curriculum review and program evaluation
  • Initiate promotion, recruitment and community partnerships within Lower Mainland schools, post-secondary institutions, and Physical & Health Education Associations
  • Mentor Douglas College Faculty teaching within the Graduate Diploma
  • Act as a part of the SPSC Coordination Team for assigned department work.
Job Duties and Tasks
  • Graduate Diploma advising, recruitment, and communication
    • As the contact person for the Graduate Diploma program, manage teacher and administration requests for information on entrance requirements, transfers, grad requirements, etc.
    • Provide Graduate Diploma specific information sessions to teachers as part of Douglas College Information Session nights.
    • Provide off-site Graduate Diploma information sessions at school district offices and schools.
    • Field student concerns relating to the program.
    • Organize and host Graduate Diploma orientation nights.
    • Create or update the Graduate Diploma information package annually.
    • Oversee Departmental website updates.
    • Review and edit materials provided by marketing related to the Graduate Diploma.
    • Review and edit Douglas College website related to the Graduate Diploma.
    • Upon request, attend conferences, professional development days, and schools in aid of promotion of the Graduate Diploma.
  • Administration
    • Manage enrollment and monitor student retention.
    • Monitor equipment and facilities requirements for the Graduate Diploma in consultation with other coordinators and the SPSC Department Chair.
    • Facilitate purchases of equipment relevant to the Graduate Diploma (i.e., equipment for school‑aged children).
    • Coordinate new Graduate Diploma faculty orientation to Douglas College and the Sport Science department.
    • Facilitate curriculum development meetings between instructors.
    • Maintain and utilize a Program Advisory Committee for the Graduate Diploma Program.
    • Liaise with Student Engagement and Athletics for evening scheduling of Graduate Diploma classes to minimize disruptions of facilities use.
    • Act as program liaison for external and/or international partnerships.
Additional Information

The Sport Science Department at Douglas College offers a Graduate Diploma in Physical and Health Education, as well as a Post‑Degree Diploma in Kinesiology, a Bachelor of Physical Education and Coaching (BPEC) with available Kinesiology or Health Promotion concentrations, and a Diploma in Sport Science with optional Specializations in Kinesiology or Health and Recreation.

This limited‑term faculty coordinator position will run from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027, with possible extension to June 30, 2029. The position carries a two‑section time release for the 2026/2027 academic year. This position may require travel between the New Westminster and Coquitlam campuses.
