Aviva is seeking an experienced Claims Adjuster for its Home Warranty Claims team in Calgary. The successful candidate will manage and resolve claims while providing top-notch customer service and supporting team objectives. Our home warranty team is on the hunt for an experienced claims adjuster skilled in handling litigated matters. In this role you will be responsible for managing claims submitted by homeowner under policies of home warranty insurance. You will efficiently and professionally handle your own set of claims to resolution as well as support the team in prompt and efficient handling of home warranty claims. You keep the customer front of mind and while handling claims of a higher level of complexity. You are keen to develop in your own career and help develop those around you.

What you will do
Utilize your expertise and sound judgment to adjust claims by verifying policy coverage and assessing the presence of construction defects and associated liabilities.
Provide superior customer service to our clients and partners.
You will work with developers and to ensure appropriate resolution of a claim within the terms of the policy while satisfying all other partners including provincial regulators.
You will proactively manage your files and keep timely and informed claim records, including observations, documentation, communications, decisions made, financial expenditures, and setting and maintaining adequate reserves.
Ensure file reserves are set on a timely and accurate basis.
Support the team’s subrogation efforts by gathering evidence and communicating proactively with our recovery team.

What you’ll bring
2+ years of proactive claims handling experience, with a strong knowledge of property, surety, or home warranty claims preferred.
Ability to handle a varied pending, including litigated, complex, and out-of-province claims.
On litigated files, ability to work in partnership with defence counsel to develop and implement strategies for bringing files to a timely and efficient resolution.
Experience engaging professionals and trades, including the review and analysis of scopes of work, estimates, bids, invoices, reports, memos, and professional opinions.
Excellent customer service and superior interpersonal skills
Strong investigation and negotiations skills.
Exceptional command of the English language, including oral and written communication.
Practical experience within development and/or residential construction is a plus.
CIP or FCIP designation preferred.
What you’ll get
The salary band for this position ranges from $55,600 to $80,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
