Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe and high‑quality nursing care across all areas of the Endoscopy Unit (pre‑assessment, procedures, recovery, and discharge)
  • Support patients and families through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery, providing clear communication and reassurance
  • Administer medications and assist with specimen collection (biopsies, bodily fluids)
  • Ensure care plans are developed, updated, and delivered in line with patient needs and best practice
  • Act as a role model and mentor junior staff, students, and HCAs
  • Participate in the Endoscopy on‑call service
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention and health and safety policies
  • Contribute to audit, research, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
Job Information

Job Title: Band 5 Endoscopy Staff Nurse
Department: Endoscopy Unit
Salary: Depends on experience
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, rota‑based with on‑call participation, Monday to Friday
Contract: 12 Months Fixed‑Term Contract

The role requires a strong background in endoscopy nursing, with the ability to apply specialist knowledge, support patients through their treatment journey, and contribute to service development. The post holder will maintain high professional standards in line with the NMC Code, act as a mentor to junior staff and students, and provide leadership when required.

  • Participate in the Endoscopy on‑call service

Skills and Experience
  • Registered Nurse (NMC)
  • Proven endoscopy nursing experience is essential
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • A collaborative, flexible, and caring approach with a commitment to patient‑centred care
  • Willingness to rotate through all areas of the Endoscopy Unit and participate in on‑call duties
