Note : Normally, an acceptable training program in electronics technology involves the completion of two to three years of post-secondary study in this subject.
Experience :
Experience with electronic test equipment.
Experience with engineering related standards and safety documentation.
Experience with presenting technical information.

Education
Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution in Electronic or Computer Engineering Technology or some other specialty relevant to the position OR Certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist OR an acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience.
Note: Naval equivalent training is normally attained at the S1 W Eng level, or EL 03 level with other government departments, or an apprenticeship within FMFCS.
Information Technology diplomas focused on systems / networks administration, Cyber Security diplomas, or Computer Science degrees combined with hands on technical experience may be considered equivalent education for this position.

The incumbent must be willing to participate in the evolving on-the-job training development program for EL04 through to EL06 with DND.
Employees are required must comply with applicable safety regulations and procedures including wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment.
The incumbent must be willing and able to work in adverse conditions and environments, which may include, but not limited to confined spaces, heights, and extreme weather conditions.
The incumbent must be willing and able to work onboard ships and submarines while alongside and at sea, which may include transfer at sea procedures involving alternative methods of air and sea transport to and from the ship.
The incumbent must be willing and able to work overtime, shift, and be on call.
The incumbent must be willing and able to travel outside headquarters area for extended periods of time.
The incumbent must be willing and able to work in commercial repair facilities.
The incumbent must be willing and able to participate in training sessions, which may include self-study, on the job training, classroom setting training, and practical training.
The incumbent must meet and maintain the medical profile standards established for the position.
Conditions of employment
Reliability Status security clearance - The incumbent must obtain an enhanced reliability clearance prior to hire. The incumbent will be required to be able to obtain and maintain Level 2 Secret security clearance throughout the employment in the position.
