Job summary

A leading consulting engineering firm is seeking a Stagiaire to contribute to maintenance and testing activities in the electrical and telecommunications sectors. This role requires up to 2 years of relevant experience and suitable educational background, with opportunities for growth within the company. The BBA Field Services team is looking for new team members who enjoy technical challenge, problem solving and exceeding client expectations. Our ideal candidate is living within 100kms from Fort St John, BC who can work independently while also engaging with the team to share knowledge and develop relationships that support the growth and expansion of Field Services in the Western Region.

  • Complete maintenance activities on protection, control, and high voltage apparatus
  • Complete maintenance activities on microwave, network and communications systems
  • Support service center operations including organization of testing equipment, ongoing repairs and device inventory
  • Support business relations and the quality of professional services
  • Apply & execute established work methods and provide input into their improvement
  • Experience managing business relations and the quality of professional services with co workers, clients and partners
  • Follow, review and execute safety procedures and criteria
  • Participate in the execution of detailed engineering projects
  • Draft technical documents, commissioning reports, calculation notes and estimates

Job Requirements
  • Working towards either a Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma (technologist) in one of the following areas: electrical engineering, telecommunications or any other relevant training
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in electrical apparatus maintenance, protection relay, telecommunications and control systems testingWillingness to work in operational and brownfield experience with industrial and utility systems
  • Must be comfortable working in severe weather conditions (hot and cold), driving on winter roads, in remote locations, and on forest service roads
  • Must be comfortable working in remote locations with limited means of communication
  • Must be able to consistently lift 70lbs
  • Available to travel to our BBA offices across Canada
  • Available for short- and long-term work assignments at client sites in Canada
  • Asset: Bilingual (English and French)
  • Asset: Experience in power control systems for generation and renewable energy sectors
  • Asset: Knowledge and use of different standard communications protocols like DNP3, Modbus, and IEC 61850 within industrial or utility applications
