Overview

Nuclear, Commercial Projects – Location: Chalk River, Ontario. Position Type: 12 month contract with conversion to FT perm after. Reports To: Vice President, Capital Projects or equivalent executive. Rate: $130 - 150/hr Incorp. On-Site at CNL: Monday - Thursday.

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of the Project Management Office (PMO) to lead the strategic and operational oversight of all project management activities at our Chalk River Laboratories site. This role ensures the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of capital, infrastructure, environmental remediation, and R&D support projects in alignment with CNL’s long-term vision for innovation, safety, and operational excellence in the nuclear sector.

This is an on-site leadership role responsible for establishing best-in-class project governance, standardization, performance reporting, and resource management to support mission-critical programs in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field (required).
  • Master’s degree or MBA (preferred).

Certifications:

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is required.
  • Additional credentials such as PgMP, Prince2, or AACE certifications are assets.

Experience:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in project management, including at least 10 years in a leadership capacity within a PMO or large program environment.
  • Proven track record managing multi-disciplinary teams and large-scale capital or infrastructure projects in nuclear, energy, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Strong familiarity with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS), project controls, and integrated master scheduling.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in project management tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, Power BI, etc.).
  • Knowledge of nuclear regulatory standards, safety protocols, and quality assurance systems.
