Job description

As the Director of Software Engineering, you will be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of digital solutions that support our colleagues and clients across Canada.

Position: Director of Software Engineering (PERM, Hybrid Remote / Onsite in Toronto)

• Build strong working relationships with business and IT management to understand business strategy and requirements, and to develop appropriate solutions that enable us to achieve our business objectives.
• Be an active member of the IT management team reporting to the CIO, supporting the team in addressing both strategic and tactical priorities.
• Demonstrate the ability to select, configure, and integrate off-the-shelf SaaS systems.
• Own the system architecture and engineering of digital initiatives at the firm.
• Establish industry best practice processes and infrastructure for the Software Engineering team, moving towards a DevOps and Agile culture.
• Be hands-on, capable of reviewing software design and architecture.
• Work closely with Enterprise Architecture, Data Science, and Project Management teams to build solution roadmaps and project plans.
• Attract, recruit, and develop engineering talent.
• Provide coaching, foster learning, and create an environment where colleagues can develop the technical expertise needed for future business needs.
• Ensure security standards are followed throughout the software development process.
