Position Overview

The Director of Cybersecurity Architecture is responsible for the design, development and implementation of enterprise cybersecurity solutions and will report to the Vice President of Information Security. This position is the highest-level technical expert and is responsible for managing the cybersecurity architecture and engineering functions. The Director, Cybersecurity Architecture is also responsible for monitoring and verifying that the enterprise is appropriately protected from internal and external threats, while enabling the organization to work effectively and productively.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, design and implement security measures to safeguard access to resources, enterprise networks, computer systems, and data elements. Set the strategy for the enterprise cybersecurity solutions.
  • Configure, deploy, fine tune, and monitor SIEM, WAF, Firewall, Zero-Trust, IAM, MFA, EPP, SOAR, Vulnerability Management, Threat Intelligence, DLP, CASB, Secure Web & Email Gateway.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices in risk management and integrate new methods and tools as appropriate.
  • Monitor vendor and third-party security reports and proactively patch vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to provide visibility into security risks using a standard risk management approach to track, mitigate and report risks.
  • Engage with internal and external partners to design, test, and implement secure operating systems, applications, networks, and database products / solutions.
  • Lead and participate in security operations support and incident management.
  • Oversee cybersecurity engineers to provide clear vision and goals, integrating cybersecurity into enterprise architecture and portfolio management.
  • Serve as cybersecurity subject matter expert, providing guidance and consulting to IT teams and business units.
  • Maintain proper documentation for all security products and processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • 10 years of progressive technology experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a cybersecurity engineering or architecture leadership role.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team of cybersecurity staff and develop a security vision for the future.
  • Strong business acumen and executive presence; ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders and senior leaders.
  • Experience in information security management and business risk management.
  • Proven ability to develop senior management presentations and enterprise communications.
  • Proficiency in leading cross-functional teams and experience with strategic planning, budgeting, and allocation.
  • Direct experience leading and managing employees; security solutions implementing defense-in-depth architecture; and development of best practices and SOPs.
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and drive results.
  • Minimum CISSP or CompTIA Security+ certification (DoD 8140). Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities with formal project management experience.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with sound judgment.
  • Experience in regulated industries and aligning cybersecurity practices to SOX, PCI, NIST, ISO, SOC 2, and similar standards.
  • Must be located in Burnaby, Canada and willing to commute to the Burnaby office two days a week.
Desired Skills
  • Additional security certifications (GSEC, OSCP, CISM, etc.).
  • Strong multitasking, attention to detail, and ability to work autonomously with general supervision.
