Supporting the Weir Minerals Canada ETO (Engineered to Order) and MTO (Manufactured to Order) Integrated Solutions department out of Mississauga, ON. This engineering office custom engineers, manages construction and commissioning of Pumps, Pump packages, Pumphouses, Barges, Cyclone Clusters, Comminution equipment, Valves, large diameter high pressure slurry hoses, rubber lined pipe and rubber lined fabrications for the mining, comminution and oil sands industry.
The Design Engineering EIT will provide Electrical support to the Sr. Lead Design Engineer Electrical on the electrical scope for the design, analysis, and delivery of Engineered Pump packages, Pumphouses, Barges, Cyclone Clusters, Comminution equipment, Valves. The candidate must possess the technical expertise to support design in AutoCad 2D and NX 3D of P&ID, SLD, schematics, panel layouts, cable schedules, specifications, of electrical automation and control equipment.
Support the Weir Pump house and Barge electrical rooms, Custom ETO and Integrated Solutions Product Offering, install base and the Sr. Lead Design Engineer Electrical by developing detailed engineering designs for electrical and control systems, testing, trouble shooting, modifying and documenting in AutoCad/NX 2D/3D, Microsoft applications including but not limited to: P&ID, Layouts, wiring Single Line Diagrams, schematics, panel layouts, cable schedules, specifications, programs, validation, control-system engineering activities, I/O Instrumentation selection/lists, cable tray layouts, lighting layouts, reports, bid proposals, cost estimates, bills of materials in drawings Teamcenter and SAP, review of customer specifications and requirements, shop packages, work instructions, control narratives, technical review of vendor submittals, ITPs, electrical calculations such as volt-drop, EHT heat loss, illumination level, distribution transformer sizing and panel loading, prep documents for P.Eng. review/stamp in accordance with customer and Weir specifications and CEC, CSA, CE, UL and NEC and other codes. Automate our Weir products and connect/communicate with Customers DCS (Distributed Control Systems), PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and Scada systems.
Supporting on an as needed basis the supervision of installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical automation and control equipment, programming, simulation and testing. .Support other departments with electrical needs. Assist with setup of SAP for Item creation, BOM’s and Routing.
Support the Sr. Lead Design Engineer Electrical on executing the plan, schedule and engineering tasks management to meet customer specific timelines, budgets and engineering requirements.
Support and ensure electrical systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently and safely and designs/equipment are within corporate guidelines and in compliance to applicable standards to providing a Quality Product, on time.
Recent Graduate EIT, with Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering
Experience in electrical design, controls, instrumentation and drafting for industrial infrastructure projects.
Engineering Intern (EIT) in Ontario or ability to become P.Eng.
Prior exposure some of the following tools is important: Networking and Data Acquisition, PLC, DCS, SCADA, Protocols Rs232, Rs485, HART, Profibus DP/PA, Profinet, CAN, Ethernet, Modbus, Programming, Server client networking, Process Automation devices, Human machine Interfaces (HMI), motors, Panel wiring, Flow, Temperature, Pressure, Level Transmitters, PID controls, Alternating Current Variable speed / Frequency Drive (VFD), Panel Designing for PCC, MCC application, systems architecture diagrams, schematics and system block diagrams, technical and safety standards, industry best practices, regulations, development, commissioning, optimization, actuators, industrial communications, control systems, shielding, noise minimization would be considered an asset.
Prior exposure to 2D AutoCAD package and good to have some 3D modelling experience (Siemens NX (UG)) and drafting.
Knowledge of Teamcenter PLM/PDM and SAP MRP/ERP packages would be considered an asset, but not required
Exceptional organizational and communication skills both verbal and written in English.
