Job summary

Job Description

Under the authority of the Site Director, the crane operator, using a wheeled crane, performs various material loading tasks as well as any other material handling operations requiring the use of their machine. They carry out the various weigh-ins of material entering or leaving the yard.

What You Will Be Responsible For
  • Receive metal and place it in the appropriate location;
  • Unload trucks and verify the quality of the material;
  • Bring car bodies and other ferrous materials to the shredder loading area;
  • Transport bins of non-ferrous material;
  • Load ferrous products intended for customers;
  • Perform material identification tests using appropriate products or magnets;
  • Evaluate cuts of what is not sellable;
  • Take physical inventory of material in stock according to the established schedule;
  • Record in their report the weights of material upon arrival and departure from the site;
  • Grease, as needed, the various parts of the machine requiring lubrication;
  • Wash the machine when required.
Qualifications

  • You hold a construction equipment competency card;
  • You have a valid Class 5 driver’s license;
  • You have at least one year of experience in a similar position;
  • You are bilingual (asset);
  • You are mindful of occupational health and safety;

  • You have good communication skills;
  • You enjoy teamwork;
