Controls Support Specialist – HVAC Systems

We’re looking for a motivated and technically skilled Controls Support Specialist to join our Service Team. This role supports customers and field technicians with controls-related issues across HVAC systems, providing troubleshooting, diagnostics, performance optimization, and control logic analysis. You will be a key technical resource ensuring system reliability and customer satisfaction.

The Successful Candidate's Responsibilities Will Include
  • Provide technical controls support via phone, email, and site visits
  • Troubleshoot HVAC control systems: sensors, actuators, PLC/DDC controllers, and networks
  • Analyze and modify control logic to resolve issues and improve performance
  • Support commissioning, re-commissioning, and system performance tuning
  • Assist with BMS integration and communication troubleshooting (BACnet, Modbus, LONtalk, IP protocols)
  • Review sequences of operation and verify field implementation
  • Document findings, corrective actions, and software revisions
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product Development on recurring issues
  • Support warranty investigations and provide technical training to service personnel
The Ideal Candidate For This Position Will Have
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or Technical Diploma in Electrical/Computer/Instrumentation Engineering
  • 3+ years of controls engineering experience (HVAC or building automation preferred)
  • Proficient in IEC 61131-3 PLC programming (e.g., Carel, Schneider)
  • Experience with BACnet, Modbus, LONtalk, and IP-based protocols
  • Experience in HVAC control system design and sequence development is preferred.
  • Experience with VFD integration and tuning is preferred.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, sensors, and control strategies
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and panel layouts
  • Familiarity with UL, CSA, and safety standards
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Valid driver’s license and passport; willingness to travel within Canada/US (5–10%)
