Overview

Overview Summary: A Construction Scheduler at Clearway is responsible for the creation, maintenance and updating of CPM schedules of construction projects. Tasks involve developing schedules, revisions of schedules, time keeping, document control, coordination with project team, and creating progress reports of the project. The position is based out of the field office for the project within the GTA. The role entails working closely with our estimating teams, project coordinators and project managers and all business and technical teams within the company to meet organizational objectives. Location: Clearway's Head Office – Maple, ON. Hours of Operations: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (EST).

Responsibilities
  • Identify major milestones, critical approvals, and long lead procurement items.
  • Participate in the planning and schedule preparation process during pursuits and response to RFP documents in projects.
  • Develop and maintain construction project schedules using Primavera P6 software.
  • Coordinate with Site personnel and Senior Management to verify details of proposed project schedules.
  • Revise schedule sequence or duration based on resource allocation, material supply and other factors.
  • Review vendor and sub-contractor schedule submittals and incorporate them into the construction project schedule.
  • Conduct regular meetings with Site Personnel, including Site Superintendent, Project Coordinator, Project Manager and Senior Management, to review completed work and confirm upcoming work.
  • Ensure deadlines and major milestones are outlined within schedules.
  • Improve scheduling efficiencies and maintain the project schedule log on a regular basis.
  • Notify representatives of potential changes in contract conditions or proposed scope of work.
  • Work with the project team to identify errors and develop strategies to avoid delays and accelerate completion of work.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Track delays on progress schedules and develop time impact analyses (TIA) for extension of time requests and delay claims in a timely contractual manner.
  • Complete additional administrative tasks as required by Senior Management.
  • Determine reasonable schedule logic and constraints based on discussions with technical and business teams.
  • Develop realistic activity durations based on production rates and available manpower.
  • Assign resources (cost, labour, equipment, and materials) to activities and develop cash flow reports and resource histograms.
  • Develop Schedule Narratives and Progress Reports in line with specified Contract requirements.
  • Evaluate critical and near-critical path activity sequences and assess actual progress based on site inspections.
  • Identify schedule changes and trends, develop earned value reports, and suggest corrective actions or recovery plans when delays are anticipated or occur.
  • Support risk allocation and value engineering workshops; prepare post-construction as-built schedules and lessons learned reports.
Requirements
  • University or College education - B. Eng. or Construction Engineering Technology program.
  • 5+ years' experience in construction related activities.
  • 3+ years' experience in scheduling related activities.
  • Proficient experience in Primavera P6 and report preparation skills.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Strong to expert level using Excel.
  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe. Blue Beam Revu is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Jonas Construction Software and Heavy Bid Estimating programs would be an added benefit.
  • Experience in LRT, Railway, Transit, MTO and typical linear civil construction projects is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, organization, time-management, and leadership skills.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technology quickly and adapt.
  • Ability to quickly earn the trust of peers, project teams and key project stakeholders to mobilize and motivate teams.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to meet and adhere to deadlines and work under strict time constraints.
  • Be self-motivated and driven.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Valid Ontario Drivers Licence.
