In anticipation of upcoming rail and bridge infrastructure projects, we are proactively building our talent pipeline and seeking experienced Bridges/Structures Construction Managers / Contract Administrators interested in future on‑site opportunities in the Edmonton area. This role will act as the Owner’s Representative on complex heavy civil and rail bridge projects—providing construction management, site supervision, technical support, and contract administration to ensure safe, compliant, high‑quality project delivery

What you will do:
Contract Administration & Compliance
  • Administer construction contracts and ensure all work aligns with drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Monitor construction activities for quality, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Identify and document non‑conforming work, tracking corrective actions to completion.
  • Review RFIs, change requests, site instructions, and field clarifications with the design team.
  • Support evaluation of progress claims, change orders, and schedule/cost impacts.
Site Supervision & Construction Monitoring
  • Provide consistent on‑site oversight of construction activities.
  • Conduct daily inspections to review workmanship, sequencing, and compliance.
  • Monitor contractor performance, labour, equipment, and productivity.
  • Identify constructability challenges and escalating risks early.
  • Coordinate activities with rail operations, utilities, and third‑party stakeholders.
Daily Monitoring of Progress, Change & Risk
  • Track daily construction progress against the approved schedule.
  • Document changes in scope, schedule, and site conditions.
  • Assess impacts of changes and emerging risks related to cost, schedule, safety, or quality.
  • Communicate issues proactively and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
Technical Support During Construction
  • Provide field interpretation of drawings and specifications.
  • Work with the design team to resolve technical issues.
  • Support development of compliant, practical solutions to field challenges.
  • Review shop drawings, working drawings, and construction methods for general conformance.
  • Assist in resolving technical disputes between the Owner and Contractor.
Safety & Environmental Oversight
  • Identify safety hazards and environmental risks on an ongoing basis.
  • Monitor compliance with approved safety and environmental plans.
  • Participate in safety inspections, meetings, and incident reviews.
  • Ensure environmental protection measures are implemented and maintained.
Reporting & Documentation
  • Prepare daily construction reports documenting progress, labour and equipment, site conditions, safety notes, and issues.
  • Prepare monthly summary reports covering progress, schedule status, changes, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain organized site records including correspondence, photos, inspection logs, and deficiency lists.
Coordination & Communication
  • Serve as the primary on‑site liaison among the Owner, Contractor, and Design Team.
  • Lead or participate in site, progress, and safety meetings.
  • Coordinate internal technical specialists (structural, geotechnical, environmental).
  • Support dispute avoidance through clear communication and thorough documentation.
What You Bring:
Required
  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, or related field
  • 8–12+ years of construction management, contract administration, and site supervision experience
  • Experience with bridge, rail, or heavy civil infrastructure projects
  • Experience with in-water works or cofferdams (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and change management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong discipline in daily reporting and documentation
  • Valid railway safety certification (e.g., e-Rail Safe)
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
Preferred
  • P.Eng. or C.E.T. designation (or eligibility)
  • Experience working in active rail corridors
  • Experience with structural work in river environments
  • Additional safety certifications (CSTS, WHMIS, First Aid)
  • Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions
