Job description

Role:

As the Construction Foreman, you will be the key leader on construction sites, responsible for overseeing daily site operations, managing crews, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining project quality and timelines, acting as the link between workers and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership and supervision throughout all phases of the project
  2. Develop, maintain and execute the construction schedule to ensure full completion of the project prior to the closing date 100% of the time
  3. Work closely with the Operations Manager, Project Manager, Owner, Consultant, Subcontractors, Inspectors, and other stakeholders to identify, develop, implement and support cost-effective project delivery
  4. Schedule, monitor and supervise all subcontractor work quality and production levels to ensure the highest standards are achieved
  5. Calculate, monitor and track all materials required for the project
  6. Assess construction discrepancies and brainstorm solutions to maintain a desired finished product
  7. Track all extra work and process in accordance with contractual obligations
  8. Oversee client requests and inspections to ensure satisfaction and completion in a timely manner
  9. Coach, motivate and develop the skills of 5-10 team members on site
  10. Resolve day-to-day field personnel issues
  11. Achieve project schedule milestones, taking corrective action where necessary to meet key milestone dates
  12. Participate in safety training and development initiatives as identified or requested
  13. Communicate and administer all Safety policies and conduct site safety meetings
  14. Inspect construction sites for potential hazards throughout the duration of the project
  15. Oversee execution of the work, including quality and production, by ensuring that the crews work to job specifications and follow drawings
  16. Maintain records of project progress and report to Project Manager
  17. Ability to work in the city of Winnipeg
  18. Travel to surrounding Manitoba areas may be required

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  1. 2-5 years experience in a Foreman/Site Supervisor role preferred
  2. Skilled in reading and reviewing blueprints/floor plans
  3. Excellent communication skills; written and verbal
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  5. Demonstrated leadership skills
  6. Excellent organizational and planning skills and ability to manage multiple projects
  7. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse groups of people
  8. Post-secondary education (e.g., Construction Technology, Carpentry, Civil Engineering, etc.) preferred but not required
  9. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
