Job Title: Community Outreach Associate - Nova Scotia Quality of Life Survey

Organization: Engage Nova Scotia

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia

  • Reporting to: Director, Operations & Employee Experience
  • Supporting: Director, Quality of Life and Community Outreach Team
  • Start Date: February 17th, 2026
  • End Date: April 30th, 2026
  • Type of Position: Full‑time, contract (34 hours a week Monday - Thursday, with occasional Fridays or weekends). Weekly schedules can flex depending on organizational needs. Engage Nova Scotia follows a 4‑day work week model.
  • Hours: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm
  • Breaks: One hour lunch or two 30 minute breaks
  • Location: Must be living within Nova Scotia with the ability to travel within the province (no overnights) and to the Halifax office. The role will be two days in office and two days in community, approximately.
  • Contract hourly rate: $32 per hour, mileage reimbursement provided.

About The Opportunity

This role reports into the Director, Operations & Employee Experience and will work closely with the Director, Quality of Life and the Community Outreach team to provide project support in relation to the Nova Scotia Quality of Life Survey. The role will require someone who has a vested interest in the quality of life and wellbeing space, particularly at a provincial level and familiarity with regions of the province. The role requires someone who is able to work well in collaboration with a team and able to work independently as needed. The ability to jump into the work at hand and be flexible is key. A valid driver's license is required and access to a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities
Outreach & Community Support (60%)
  • Support Outreach Team members with pan‑provincial workshop/meeting coordination (in local community spaces) and facilitation as required - this includes event set‑up/take down, facilitation support and hosting, webinar support, photography and other related needs.
  • Support the creation and preparation of outreach material for workshops and presentations as required by team members; this could include partnership tool kits, presentation decks and other related materials.
  • Delivery and posting of survey promotional materials including posters, postcards and other items throughout the province as required.
Survey Administration (40%)
  • Responsible for distributing and collecting hard copy survey packages to partners as needed and mail outs to the Canadian Index of Wellbeing.
  • Work with Research & Innovation Lead to manage survey completion codes for requested survey packages and community outreach team needs.
  • Track responses of the Nova Scotia Quality of Life Survey as they return, in collaboration with the Canadian Index of Wellbeing. Provide weekly reports to the Engage team on the numbers of survey responses and the demographics of respondents.
  • Other survey administrative duties as required.
Ideal Experience And Skills
  • Interest in the lives and experiences of Nova Scotia residents.
  • Study or experience in one or more of the following fields: Community Development, Education, Health Promotion, Social Work or related Social Science is ideal and/or familiarity with the quality of life and wellbeing space.
  • Two years experience or more with project coordination and support.
  • Understanding and appreciation for a DEIB framework.
  • Event planning and support experience.
  • Facilitation and community engagement experience.
  • Able to work with ambiguity at times and tight timelines for deliverable outcomes.
  • High degree of comfort being self‑directed to get the work done and being able to collaborate as part of a larger team.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
Additional Notes And Travel Requirements
  • This role will require event set up and tear down duties (moving chairs, tables, and materials).
  • This role will require use of Zoom, Google Suite, and other technologies to support community engagement.
  • Pan‑provincial events at community spaces.
  • No more than three hour driving time from Halifax in one direction (no overnights will be required).
